houston

well here we r in good ol' texas. not as bad as i had always heard. i am pleasantly surprised at houston. It is a big place but has a strong activist community and many good souls that r working to create true, positive change.

had the distinct pleasure to meet Noah Rattler. he and i exchanged a few e-mails in april of "07" when i was walking to the east coast and at the time i was in the mojave desert. we had planned to meet up there in the mojave but he was not that far west at the time (he was doing a 1,800 mile walk from houston to l.a. to raise awareness on the homeless issue that is invading the u.s.) fast forward to last week-=he pulls up in a car to introduce himself to us (he had been told we were going to be in houston) and recognizes my name. later that night he begins tom tell a story about someone he had exchanged some e-mails with a few years earlier that was in the mojave at the time, and it turned out it was ME. so now he will walk with us for a week or so as we make our way west to austin (and hopefully stay w/ us a bit longer as well).

all is well as well and we will leave for austin thursday morning, it is 164 walking miles from our host's house here in houston to our host's house there in austin-PEACE/LOVE-art
