las vegas

we arrived in vegas about 4 hours ago. i personally am looking forward to leaving asap. i am not really into this whole scene, to much noise and far to many lights for me. we are staying at the main st hotel, brewery and r.v. park. there rv park is just a big parking lot w/ electrical, water and sewer hook-ups, though they have a nice hot  shower that was very enjoyable. we spent the last 4 days on the quechan reservation north of yuma. we were on the land of Preston Arrowweed. and his daughter Penelope. helped do some cleaning around the land and also helped penelope clean her trailer a bit. i did 2 sweats of 2 rounds each. the last round of the 2nd sweat almost got me good, i had to leave early, though it turned out to be just a minute or so ahead of time.
we will take part in a unitarian universalist service tomorrow and then do a walk in the memory of Jigme Norbu, the Dalai Lamas nephew who was hit by a suv and killed on 2-14. we may be walking out of vegas on monday or tues.

sedona

we are presently in sedona. we arrived on the 10th and will head back to phoenix tomorrow 4 2 nights and then begin walking north to las vegas. this leg will be 285 miles and take 11 days, we are scheduled to arrive in vegas on 2-26.

Arizona

wow, a crazy week, but then whats new. we left austin a day late and after a cold spell had blown in.
went just 80 miles the first day and stopped to get the r.v. worked on. because of the cold it was not able to happen so we drove the next day to fort stockton. because of the cold we also used up all our propane on the heater the previous night so when we got to ft. stockton we were out of propane and had to spend a night in a motel. we woke to snow thou it was not real heavy and after some talk of spending another day there we headed down the road and drove to las cruces, nm. the next day we headed in to tucson, az-where we are now. the r.v. suffered some damage to the water pipe elbows from the bitter cold that we had endured and so there wee some unexpected repairs that had to happen.

i walked out of tucson today (though we will "offically" leave tomorrow, and I did 21 miles along the frontage road along I-10.

these words and ideals alone are what SHOULD control, or have a large control over, pretty much all we do and take part in in our life, forever, alway's and in every way. 


there SHOULD be no concern about "what others think". provided of course that you are not having any negative impacts, in any way, on anybody or anything.


people are to often caught up in how others might "see" them, when in fact if others "see" them in any way they are not really "seeing" them at all.


acceptance of people and things is most important in our striving to create a fair and just world.


i of course am 1 that needs to learn from these ideals as well. as with most of what one creates on one's surface there is always a reason why these "thing's" manifest themselves outward.

austin

walked in a saturday1-22 as planned. church service on sunday as well as a real nice water healing ceremony. i volunteered and prepared dinner at casa marianella on monday, it is a center for newly arrived latin american immigrants on gunter st in austin. i will volunteer there on wednesday and thursday as well.

went to see some wonderful some wonderful blues last night at a classic austin blues club. but it was marred by some very, very sad news that a personal friend took his life yesterday.

austin

we will walk into austin on saturday the 22nd. i am taking a few days off. i have been feeling a bit over fatigued the last few days, but after 3 months of walking that is about right  and right on schedule and par for the course.

we have broken out of the greater houston area and our on the way to austin. we will arrive there on 1-22
and stay until early on the 30th.
nice country in this part of tx, thought the walking has been tough because it has been along hwy. 290, which is very LOUD.

from austin it is a driving leg into el paso.  not much else today, a bit tired-PEACE

houston

well here we r in good ol' texas. not as bad as i had always heard. i am pleasantly surprised at houston. It is a big place but has a strong activist community and many good souls that r working to create true, positive change.


had the distinct pleasure to meet Noah Rattler. he and i exchanged a few e-mails in april of "07" when i was walking to the east coast and at the time i was in the mojave desert. we had planned to meet up there in the mojave but he was not that far west at the time (he was doing a 1,800 mile walk from houston to l.a. to raise awareness on the homeless issue that is invading the u.s.) fast forward to last week-=he pulls up in a car to introduce himself to us (he had been told we were going to be in houston) and recognizes my name. later that night he begins tom tell a story about someone he had exchanged some e-mails with a few years earlier that was in the mojave at the time, and it turned out it was ME. so now he will walk with us for a week or so as we make our way west to austin (and hopefully stay w/ us a bit longer as well).

all is well as well and we will leave for austin thursday morning, it is 164 walking miles from our host's house here in houston to our host's house there in austin-PEACE/LOVE-art

texas

HAPPY NEW YEAR

we arrived in texas earlier this week. we r now less than 40 walking miles from the place that will be our home for the time that we will be in houston. east texas is nice country, quiet w/ lots of woods, i kinda' like it that way ya' know. the time in houston (8 days) will surely go fast. the list of events is starting to come together and is on the website @ http://www.13moonwalk4peace.com i am looking very forward to our time in austin though, i have never been there and being the music fan that i am, it should be fun, hope i can catch a show or 2.
i did not walk today (new years day) and will take tomorrow off as well, a slow week for me. the 5 plus hour walk in a downpour the other day took a lot out of me. 

i have been keeping a strong pace on my walk days so it will be nice to have a extended rest whilst we r in houston.
