The WEST COAST WALKUPY is over. I finished 2 walking days and 1 overnight short of sacramento due to extreme heat and extreme fatigue. No ill feelings though, i did the best i could and was happy w/ the way it all evolved. MANY, MANY THANK YOU'S to all who helped in anyway PEACE

Redding

I am currently in redding and will continue south on friday 6-29. There has been the passing over of 2 5,000 ft. mountain passes and 1 4,000 ft. pass in the last few weeks and i feel it. I am into the hot valley and will be battling the temps from here to the end pretty much, maybe the walk through the mojave desert a few years ago will pay off. Many blessings to all.

Mt. Shasta

I am leaving mt. Shasta tomorrow morning and head east and make a 117 mile loop to redding. Shasta(the mountain) is incredible, out the back door of the couchsit I am staying with.

6-12 I presently am sore as hell and south of Chiloquin, Oregon at the water wheel campground. I left Eugenelast Wednesday and started walking from oakridge. I walked about 12 miles and camped at a roadside pullout 6 miles from the tunnel on hwy. 58. For 2 nights. The tunnel was terrarium Y closed. Image it through the tunnel on Friday morning after 2 nights in the rain. The next day made it about 15 mile to a over priced campground on o'dell lake after walking on and over willamette pass at 5,128 feet in the blowing snow. Next day gimped into chemult after 23 downhill miles and spent the night at a hotel. Met Ron on the way out of town and had a nice talk. Made it to about 8 miles south to the 138-97 intersection and did some bush camping. Next day found a great little restaurant at the 138-97 interchange and meet 2 great ladies and a guy named Gene who gave no ride (I cheated, don't tell anyone please) for 10 miles, thanks gene. Walked about 22 to collier state park and stayed at another overpriced campground. I am presently 22.8 miles from tomorrow destination, a connection from warmshowers.com Put them up and putting them down PEACE art

Eugene

Eugene or 5/29/12 After woodburn I spent 2 nights is Salem,1 night in Monmouth then 3 nights in Corvallis. The last 2 nights here w/ a old global walk friend, from my first walk in 1990. Will stay in Eugene 4 more nights w/ a heartwood friend from humboldt? My body, legs especially, are pretty dead and lifeless. Overextended myself on the first part of this walk. East into the national forest next week, then south into Klamath falls, arriving there on 6-14. Not sure of wireless connections once I head east. Onward and upward

I am @ the budget inn in woodburn, or. A first, and likely the last hotel stay. Spent the last four nights in pdx, good to be away from there this time around. Have met & stayed with some very kind, wonderful peopLe since day 1. Into sa,lem 4 2 nights and then into Monmouth.

2nd day = rest and planting potatoes and cooking dinner for my host-thank you unendingly JOE! Hi to the crew there. 3rd day = walk 15 miles to coffee creek community north of centralia, beautiful day, beautiful walk, beautiful people. Thank you all @ coffee creek and a big shout out to joe smith 4th day = rest @ coffee creek, cook dinner for the crew there. 5th day = walk 19 miles to winlock, camped in the yard @ Karen's house, many thanks Karen. 6th day = walk 28 miles to Longview, met and stayed w/ Diane and Jason in Rainer, or across the river. 7th day = REST, cooked dinner. 8th day = walk 17+ miles into st. Helen's, or. staying w/ the Taber's.

Walkupy day 1

Walked 22 miles from the n.w. part of Olympia to a organic farm south-west of rochester, wa. I will spend 2 nights here and then proceed to centralia. this was a incredibly beautiful day to begin the walk and I take it as a good omen to set the tone for the positive nature of things to come. It was surely a blessing to be able to be out there today, to have the opportunity to be able to do this.

in portland today, headed to seattle tomorrow, then to olympia on friday may 4th. feeling very anxious to get the walking started. i have got most everything ready but my cart which will be taken care of through the course of the next 5 days when i am in seattle.
